Thank you so much for volunteering in Cornerstone Kids! We are profoundly grateful for your willingness to help Cornerstone Kids learn God’s story, love God’s story, and live in God’s story. Below are some helpful resources for you—feel free to familiarize yourself with everything and reach out if you have any questions!

Training Schedule: Our mission is to partner with families to help children Learn God’s Story, Love God’s Story, and Live in God’s Story

  • Breakdown of rooms

    • Room 0: 6 weeks- 11 months (plus non walkers)

    • Room 1: one year olds

    • Room 2: two year olds

    • Room 3: three year olds

    • Room 4: preschool (4’s and 5’s)

    • Room 5: overflow room by Easter

    • E1: K-2nd

    • E2: 3rd-5th

  • Curriculum

    • The same across ages

    • Interactive and leader friendly

    • Located on PC and in classroom folders

Policy/Procedures

  • Check tags (upstairs check in rooms; downstairs in rooms besides E1- lead teacher)

  • Two adults at ALL times in the room (if a volunteer needs to leave the room for ANY reason, text the Team Lead before doing so.)

  • Bathroom policy

    • 0-3: diapers

    • 3: bathroom (kid can go alone with door closed or with an adult with the door cracked enough for the other vol to see)

    • 4: bathroom in E1 (1 vol walks them to the door but does NOT go in)

    • E1: go on their own (1 at a time)

    • E2: go on their own (1 at a time)

  • Reporting abuse: MUST be reported to Aubrey Riner or Ashlee Osborn

    • We will remove that person and contact Jon

    • Jon will contact the parents, our bishop, and the legal authorities

    • I will be sending out a link for you to complete a video training on awareness of sexual abuse (complete asap)

Expectations

  • Sabbath

    • Respect my time

    • Only cancel when it is an emergency

    • Find your own subs when possible

  • Be on time (15 minutes before service- in room with tag on)

    • We can’t have kids in the classroom before we have two adults

    • Even if you don’t see kids in the room go ahead and go in

  • Communicate with Team Leads (supplies missing, behavior issues, volunteer issues, etc.)

  • Teach lesson

General Information

  • Children’s tags have parent phone number and allergies (get used to checking them)

  • Team Leaders: Aubrey Riner, Ashlee Osborn, Nina Read, Austin Lanier, Hailey Myers, Emily Curzon, and Macy Worley (#’s on schedule)

    • We are needing more so let me know if you have interest in this position!

    • Help with bathroom needs (both for kids & vols)

    • Check-in to make sure vols are in rooms

    • Welcome families

    • Help soothe upset children

    • Check room capacity

    • Take attendance

    • Take out trash

    • Follow-up with parents

  • Other areas of involvement

    • New mom’s group

    • Curriculum team

    • Guest services

    • Team leaders

  • First aide kit in every room along with accident report forms (fill out and have team lead sign, copy, then give to parents)
